Hasbro 1984 / Spengler wand control for FrankenGeek-equipped packs
This version connects SpiritBro directly to the FrankenGeek board with 4-pin and 6-pin interface cables. FrankenGeek supplies the correct power and adds music mode, track skip, and manual vent controls.

Before you begin
Check the kit and pack setup
This guide assumes your FrankenGeek board is already installed with its proper power setup. A 9V battery cannot provide enough power for the Hasbro wand.
Kit contents
- SpiritBro board in its carrier, plus mounting screws
- 4-pin Spirit interface cable
- 6-pin FrankenGeek interface cable
- Wand battery eliminator sled, hose, wiring, and end cap
- Optional function button attached to the hose end cap
Tools and prerequisites
- Installed and powered FrankenGeek electronics board
- Phillips and flat-head screwdrivers
- Wire cutters and wire strippers
- Heat gun or hair dryer for factory hot glue
Installation
Install the FrankenGeek version

Open the pack
Remove the black back padding, then remove the six motherboard screws. Carefully soften any factory hot glue with a hair dryer or heat gun.

Remove the original hose
Unplug the original wand hose’s 4-pin JST-XH connector, remove its retaining screw and hot glue, then gently pull the factory hose and wiring out.

Connect both interfaces
Connect FrankenGeek SPIRIT 4P to SpiritBro’s 4-pin interface. Connect FrankenGeek FRANKENGEEK to SpiritBro’s 6-pin interface.

Mount SpiritBro
Remove the lower FrankenGeek board screws, align SpiritBro over those holes, and use the supplied screws through both boards into the pack’s plastic studs. Do not overtighten.

Route and connect the hose
Route the new hose without damaging its wires. Connect the wand lead to WAND and optional button wires to SWITCH ON.

Install wand components
Remove the original wand battery door and holder, slide in the battery eliminator, then carefully install the supplied end cap without pinching the wiring.

Firmware note: Current shipping boards with V1.02 firmware require both cables. A future firmware version may require only the 6-pin connection.
Operation
Wand and pack behavior
These instructions apply to SpiritBro Universal firmware V1.01 or newer. FrankenGeek powers SpiritBro whenever the pack electronics have power.

Known behavior: Turning off the lower-left switch can briefly trigger firing before shutdown. Adjusting the power knob can occasionally cause a false startup.
Status and controls
LED indicator and function button
Long press • 1 second+
Toggle music mode
Start music mode after about three seconds; long-press again to stop it. Firing the wand during music mode skips tracks.
Single click
Track skip or pack power
Skip the current track in music mode. Outside music mode, send the pack power on/off signal.
Double click
Manual vent
Trigger FrankenGeek’s manual vent while the pack is on through the wand or the FrankenGeek Switch Me On control.
